i'm really looking forward to spring and in particular for the trees to grow their leaves again and flowers to blossom. nature and it's patterns are so inspiring. i'm in need of some color! here is something i've been working on over the weekend. because of the lack of green outside i turned to my plants in our living room. scanning is a great way to capture all the details, especially when it comes to flora. a method i often use for my prints.

ik heb zo'n zin in de lente. ik kan niet wachten tot de bladeren weer aan de bomen zitten en de bloemen in bloei staan. de natuur is één grote inspiratiebron. ik kan wel wat kleur gebruiken! dit weekend ben ik aan de slag gegaan met deze patronen. in tegenstelling tot buiten, staan de planten binnen gelukkig volop in bloei. scannen is een mooie manier om alle details vast te leggen, vooral bij flora. een werkwijze die ik ook vaak gebruik voor mijn dessins.

everyone knows the unikko [poppy] print from marimekko. even if you didn't know it's name or where it came from, you've definitely seen it somewhere around. this year unikko is celebrating her 50 years. and this for a print that shouldn't even have existed.

NO BOUNDARIES

these first three months have gone by so fast. i started this print journal on january 1st and today i'm on my 97th print already. some better than the other and not always content with the outcome, but certainly still having fun at it. in my daily work as a graphic designer i find this print and pattern making very liberating.

CHECK

today my fiancé and i went 'suit shopping'. first stop... zara men. i was actually overwhelmed by the crazy, cool prints on this floor. prints, unfortunately, you won't see in the women's collection.

BODY ART

you will probably remember the music video 'somebody that i used to know' from gotye. artist emma hack is responsible for the incredible body painting and backdrop in this video.

PROJECT 365/365

2014 starts, not only with a new blog but also with a new project 365/365. every day a new print! a good way to practice and keep the pressure on. while im not a believer in good stuff only happening with inspiration. i do believe sometimes you just have to get to work!
