wauw. het is echt al een tijdje geleden. ik ben zo druk geweest met allerlei dingen, alles behalve bloggen. ik beschouw het maar als een kleine pauze, want in januari gaan we gewoon weer lekker verder! een frisse nieuwe start met veel nieuwe, creatieve inspiratie. tot januari!

ik ben een echte instagram junky! uren kan ik scrollend, swipend en likend in deze app verdwijnen. geen situatie gaat dan ook aan mij voorbij waarin ik niet in vierkantjes observeer, want het moet natuurlijk wel passen in het instagram kader?! etentjes, koffiedates en andere leuke uitjes duren dan ook altijd iets langer dan nodig ;) wat zijn jouw favoriete IG'ers? ik voeg ze graag toe aan mijn lijst.

MAKING IT WORK!

that's one down! january actually started on the second for me. we had one crazy fun new years eve. let's leave it at that. this month is always slow on business which means more room for all the stuff behind the scenes. updating my portfolio and working on personal skills. working out has been on the back burner. this is changing as of tomorrow. i'm looking forward to getting my running shoes on again.

last year i've committed myself to a project of making one pattern a day. with a lot of fun i successfully completed it. this year i want to get a grip on the art of hand lettering. i've been a typography enthusiast for over a decade. sometimes the computer can be one step to many in my creative progress and being able to handwrite the type i'm imagining would be really helpfull. besides that it gives your work a major personal touch. being a graphic designer means i have to stand out and have a distinct style people will always recognize my work by. this is one way to do so.

you might have noticed that the blogs' layout changed slightly. bare with me while i'll be looking for the best balance in work and blogging. my goal is to have this blog represent me as a graphic designer, sharing and giving you inspiration through my designs. so here is to 2015, let's make it work!

en dat is één! eigenlijk begon januari pas op de tweede voor mij. we hebben een tegek oud- en nieuw gehad. laten we het daarop houden. zoals elk jaar is deze maand vrij rustig wat werk betreft. des te meer tijd heb ik om mijn portfolio weer te updaten en bezig te zijn met mijn persoonlijke kunden. hardlopen is deze maand niet gebeurt, maar daar gaat vanaf morgen weer verandering in komen. heb weer zin om kilometers te maken. 

vorig jaar ben ik begonnen met een project waarin ik elke dag één patroon maakte. deze heb ik met veel plezier afgerond. dit jaar wil ik graag de kunst van de handgeschreven letters onder de knie krijgen. al meer dan een decennia heb ik een grote liefde voor typografie. soms is het werken met een computer net een stap teveel in mijn creatieve proces. het zou zo fijn zijn om deze stap over te kunnen slaan en meteen op papier te zetten wat ik in mijn hoofd heb. plus, het geeft een persoonlijke touch. als grafisch ontwerper moet ik opvallen en herkenbaar zijn met een eigen stijl. mijn eigen handschrift zal hier nog meer in bijdragen.

misschien is het je opgevallen dat de layout van de blog een beetje is verandert. mijn doel is om deze blog een reflectie van mij als grafisch ontwerper te laten zijn. een plek waar ik met jullie kan delen en jullie kan inspireren met mijn ontwerpen. ook dit zal een proces zijn en hoop dat je in de tussentijd blijft rondhangen. ik zeg, op 2015 make it work!

a special post for all us dutch girls. the other day i was looking for some presents and went to hema. to my surprise there was a whole new section called 'blijmakers'. this translates into 'things that make you happy'! honestly i made a little squeak. items vary from tech-gadgets to stationary, kitchenware to home decoration. all in the cutest colors and each under six euro's! my smile is getting bigger and bigger. here's my selection of the items that 'make me happy'.

i'm writing my first post as a married woman. while i don't feel much different, i do feel proud to finally call the love of my life my husband. we had an amazing day and love was definitely in the air! i can't explain how loved we felt by everyone. it was truly overwhelming.

SEMI DIY TASSEL

don't you just love a bright, fringy tassel? well i certainly do! i finally found a cute dutch webshop that sells them and ordered two streamers with 4 different colors. at first i was planning to make them myself [there are tons of diy videos online on how to make them] but i was never in the mood to spend that much time on making them and these tassels aren't even that expensive!

our friend romeo owns a fish stand and was short on staff for king's day. knowing how busy it can get on these days, i offered to help him out. it was my first time selling fish! but hey, i thought selling is selling, no matter what the product.

sunday morning 6:20 am. it was this early when my alarm clock went off.

bright and early i packed the car with all my stuff i gathered throughout the past weeks. ready to pickup my friend kitsa and load up the car with her stuff. this would be our very first time selling our used goods at stadjersmarkt, the local flea market.

A SATURDAY AFTERNOON

last saturday my dear friend kitsa and i went to the groninger museum. after a two hour coffee session in the city (which was pretty short for us) we headed over to the museum. since we both haven't been there in a while we figured, it would be a saturday afternoon well spend. and so it was!
