A NEW COOKBOOK / ALL VEGETABLES

Wednesday, February 4, 2015

ENG
last christmas my mom gave us this pretty book. an all vegetable cookbook! i like the design and simplicity. the vibrant pictures make your mouth water and i love the graphic prints that are used to divide the book in chapters. the whole book is set up to be very visual. no long stories here; a very attractive picture, a list of ingredients and what to do. what's not to like.

i always seem to pick to same vegetables to cook. it's a combination of, lack of imagination not knowing what to do with or how to prepare a vegetable. or simply picking the one that's on special offer. i already tried one recipe with curly kale. a vegetable i normally only use in a potato stew. never would have thought i would ever cook it in any other way. if you ever want to try something new with your vegetables, this cookbook is really worth a try. and... it also looks good on your bookshelf.

this past weekend sure was hot! because this week is promised to be a warm week again, i decided to make some refreshing ice popsicles to fill the fridge. this is one simple and easy way to make your very own (sugar free) icecream with your favorite fruit.

two months! till our wedding. time seems to fly by at this point. i bought my wedding dress almost a year ago and it's at the seamstress 'as we speak'. apart from my wedding shoes, these are probably the only things that are really set. we still have lot's to arrange... like the wedding cake.

QUICK AND EASY

Sunday, March 9, 2014

sundays often call for take-out or in this case a very simple and quick recipe to get something tasty on the dinner table. you can put anything you like into the quiche, leave out the meat for a nice vegetarian version or put in the leftovers from yesterday. nice to serve with some breadsticks and tomato soup. enjoy your sunday!

i base my quiche according to this recipe.
and for my foreign readers a similar recipe over here.

CREAM PUFF FEST

Monday, February 24, 2014

this weekend i hosted a dinner party at our house for seven people. we have a group of friends that come together every now and then and we cook for each other. it's kinda like an 'american party' where everyone brings their own dish. this is an excellent way to try and experiment with new recipes and ideas. it's also very fun to try new dishes that the guests bring. this time i was in charge of dessert.
